About
Product Kata
Product Kata helps B2B companies succeed in commercialisation — turning products and services into offerings customers understand, buy and value. It’s a repeatable practice for treating the product as a whole business, not a feature set.
Why it exists
Most companies over-invest in building and under-invest in commercialisation — the work of turning what you’ve built into something customers understand, buy and value. Teams ship features and wait for growth that doesn’t follow. In B2B a great product doesn’t sell itself. And now that AI has made building cheap, shipping more is the last thing that sets you apart — the edge is how well you commercialise. Yet almost no one has a shared, repeatable way to do it.
The Purpose
Product Kata is that repeatable way. Commercialisation is never one team’s job: it takes product, sales and growth, onboarding, customer success and support pulling in the same direction — and it matters whether you sell software or services, wherever the offering is complex. Product Kata gives all of them one common practice for turning what’s built into commercial success, again and again.
The practice runs in three movements:
Inspire
Real stories, on the blog, of how commercial success is actually made — seen from different points of view.
Learn
Product Kata Core — a free, open method for the practices behind it.
Grow
Product Kata OS, advisory and consultancy that help you apply those practices in your own company.
These are being built through 2026 and will become available gradually.
Behind Product Kata

Product Kata is built by Teemu Uusitalo. Over nearly 20 years in B2B software he has led product and transformation across industries — construction software, B2B fintech and invoice automation, industrial services, and healthcare and wellness tech. He has led not only product teams but also onboarding, support, customer service and even manufacturing and logistics — a hands-on feel for the whole operations side of a business, not just the build. And he has sat on executive and unit leadership teams, where the challenge is rarely one function but making the whole business work together. That breadth is why Product Kata looks at the product as a whole business. See his full background on LinkedIn.
Why build this when so many brilliant people already teach product? The voices that inspire this work — SVPG, John Cutler, Teresa Torres, Lenny Rachitsky, Melissa Perri and many more — tend to focus on discovery, delivery and how product orgs are structured. Commercialisation gets far less attention. Product Kata exists to close that gap.
The Name
Over a decade ago I read Toyota Kata (Mike Rother) — how Toyota makes continuous improvement a daily habit, with human ingenuity, not rigid process, at its centre. It stayed with me. But I’d never seen that same discipline applied to how companies commercialise their products. Hence Product Kata: commercial success practised as a discipline — continuously improved, people at the centre — rather than run as a one-off project.
